Abby Johnston and Nick McCrory will not be the only members of Duke's diving team representing the university at the Olympic Games in London.
The pair, who represent the first members of Duke's diving program to compete in the Olympics, will be joined by their coach, Drew Johansen, who was named head coach of the United States Diving team today.
Johansen served as the head coach of USA Diving's 2011 World Championship team in Shanghai and has been a U.S. National Team coach for seven years.
"Any time you get to wear USA on your back, it invokes all kinds of new emotions–patriotic as well as being recognized as one of the best athletes in the land," Johansen said. "The Olympic dream brings us all to the sport in one way or another. I'm looking forward to it."
Diving at the 2012 Olympics will begin July 29 with the women's 3-meter synchronized competition, in which Johnston will be competing.
