All eyes on USA basketball may be keyed on Duke men's basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski leading the Olympic squad in London, but another Blue Devil will also be wearing the red, white and blue this summer.
Rasheed Sulaimon, the No. 12 recruit in the nation according to ESPN.com, has made the team of 12 players who will play with the United States squad at the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship from June 16-20 in Sao Sebastiáo do Paraiso, Brazil.
The 6-foot-3 guard is hyped as a dynamic offensive threat who is dangerous beyond the arc and penetrate, moving well in transition. He and the No. 25 recruit in the nation, Amile Jefferson, comprise Duke's 2012 recruiting class.
Notably, joining Sulaimon on the team are Nathaniel Britt, Montrezl Harrell, Rodney Purvis and Julius Randle. Britt is a 2013 point guard committed to North Carolina and Purvis, a shooting guard, is the No. 20 recruit in the class of 2012 and will play at N.C. State next year. Harrell had been committed to play at Virginia Tech next year but will not following the departure of their head coach Seth Greenberg, and he will now play for Rick Pitino at Louisville.
Ranked No. 2 in the class of 2013, Julius Randle is an uncommitted 6-foot-9 power forward who is considering Duke among many other schools.
Twenty three players were originally invited to try out for the team with 12 being chosen. Florida men's basketball head coach Billy Donovan will lead the team.
