Catching up with Duke targets at NBPA Top 100 Camp

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--Four potential Duke targets have been showcasing their talents at this weekend's NBPA Top 100 High School Camp, featuring the top-ranked high school basketball players in the country. Semi Ojeleye, Marcus Lee, Anthony Barber and Allerik Freeman are all reported targets of head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devil staff.

The Chronicle had the chance to catch up with a few of them on their experience at the camp and their interest in Duke.

ACC UPDATE (4:21 p..m.): Solomon Poole, the No. 37 recruit in the nation according to ESPN.com, just announced his commitment to Georgia Tech.

Semi Ojeleye

  • 6-foot-6 small forward
  • No. 33 recruit in the class of 2013 according to ESPN.com
  • Duke offered him a scholarship after he visited during the K Academy at the beginning of June

On what programs have been recruiting him the hardest:

"Duke has been coming on strong in the past couple months, also gotten texts from Indiana, UCLA and Oregon"

On his high concern for academics and how Duke fits in with that:

"They're a prestigious program and they take everything seriously. I think it would be a good experience.

On something he has been focusing on at the camp:

"Defense is something you can always control. Shots don't always fall."

Marcus Lee

  • 6-foot-9 power forward
  • No. 27 recruit in the class of 2013 according to ESPN.com
  • Hurt his hip at the camp during skill drills Friday and has sat out of the camp since.
  • Plans to narrow his list of schools within the next month. According to ESPN.com, 18 schools have offered him a scholarship, including Duke.

On what impressed him talking with the Duke coaches:

"When I was talking to Coach K [about two months ago] he was so enthusiastic about everything. I never never experienced that... He just gets it."

On something he has been focusing on at the camp:

I want to get better and learn the little things and seeing how the little things help my team.

Anthony Barber

  • 6-foot-2 guard
  • No. 26 recruit in the class of 2013 according to ESPN.com
  • Duke has shown interest and been in contact with Barber but has yet to offer him a scholarship
  • Said Kansas and Alabama are currently recruiting him the hardest and are atop his list, but Kentucky would join them should they ultimately offer him a scholarship.

On his mentality as a guard, often known for being a scoring point guard:

"When I get in the lane I try to get to the cup."

On Duke has a potential destination for him:

I have talked to Coach K but haven't gotten an offer.... Hopefully they can see me more and offer me."

On his confidence handling the ball:

"Anybody in front of me I think I can...beat off the dribble."
