Mason Plumlee will return for his senior season

Mason Plumlee has decided to stay at Duke for his senior season, he announced on his Twitter account this afternoon. The program officially confirmed the decision just before 4 p.m.

"I'm excited about the chance to play for Duke one more season. Thanks for all the support, I'm blessed to be here!" Plumlee tweeted.

As a junior, the 6-foot-10 forward led the team with 9.2 rebounds per game. He also scored 11.1 points per contest on 57.2-percent shooting.

“I am really excited about my decision to come back,” Plumlee said in a press release. “What it came down to was the people here and the relationships that I have developed. I feel like this is the best place for me to improve and that is one of the most important things to me. Also the way we ended last year is not the way I want to end my career at Duke.”

Plumlee was projected to be a late first-round pick in this summer's NBA Draft, though some draft analysts speculated he could fall to the second round depending on how his pre-draft workouts went. He racked up 7.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore in 2010-11.

"Mason had a very good year for us and we are excited to have him back for his senior season,” head coach Mike Krzyzewski said in the release. “He is a terrific talent that has improved every year. We look forward to watching him continue to grow and develop as a player and as a leader. Mason has the ability to contend for ACC player of the year and All-America honors next season.”
