The Blue Devils will look to carry the momentum from Wednesday's last-second victory over North Carolina back to Cameron Indoor Stadium today for a matchup with Maryland. Click here for a full preview.
Projected starters:
Maryland (14-9, 4-5 in the ACC): G Nick Faust, G Terrell Stoglin, G Sean Mosley, F Ashton Pankey, F James Padgett.
No. 10 Duke (20-4, 7-2): G Tyler Thornton, G Seth Curry, G Austin Rivers, F Ryan Kelly, F Mason Plumlee.
1. How will Faust fill in for Pe'Shon Howard?
Howard racked up 10 points, six rebounds and four assists against the Blue Devils in College Park two weeks ago, but the team announced yesterday that he tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season. Faust, a 6-foot-6 freshman, will have to step up to fill the void left by his absence.
2. Can the Terrapin frontcourt slow Mason Plumlee?
Mason Plumlee was unstoppable in the teams' earlier matchup, scoring 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting to go with 12 boards. He had little trouble outplaying highly touted freshman Alex Len, though the 7-foot-1 Ukraine native was recovering from an injury at the time. If Len, Padgett and Pankey are equally unsuccessful today, it could be a long day for Maryland.
3. What will Austin Rivers do as an encore?
Rivers's buzzer-beater over Tyler Zeller will be remembered as one of the greatest shots in the history of Duke basketball, but today will be a test of whether he can maintain that high level of play consistently. He had just 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting in College Park, going 0-for-3 from beyond the arc.
