Duke trounced North Carolina by a 96-56 margin Monday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The 40-point margin of victory was the second largest win by Duke in the history of the rivalry. Tricia Liston led the way with 23 points thanks to some deadly long-range shooting while freshman Elizabeth Williams recorded her fifth double-double of the year and added six blocks. These blocks set the ACC freshman record for blocks in a season and placed her tenth all-time in Duke history.
Head coach Joanne P. McCallie was quite pleased with her team's performance as well as the presence of a rowdy crowd of Duke students. "We love the Duke students," McCallie said after the game. "We love the students, Duke is great that way. There are so many interesting students here from all over. To see people come out and act as they did and have so much fun, hopefully they’ll come back over and over again."
McCallie even added one more incentive for students to show up to games. "I'll even cook for them," she said, "And I can't cook."
