Not long ago, Bill O'Brien reported to Ted Roof. Now, it will be the other way around.
O'Brien was recently named the successor to Joe Paterno as the head coach of Penn State's football team after a season as the New England Patriot's offensive coordinator in the National Football League. According to reports today, he has hired Ted Roof to be the defensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions.
O'Brien was the offensive coordinator at Duke in 2005 and 2006, serving under Roof, who was the Blue Devils' head coach from 2003-2007. In 2005 and 2006, Duke went 1-10 and 0-12, respectively.
Roof was named the defensive coordinator at Central Florida just a month before accepting the job at Penn State. He had been the defensive coordinator at Auburn during the previous two seasons.
