Two of Duke’s top 2012 recruits spent the past weekend at other schools for official visits. The class’s top player, Shabazz Muhammad, was in Lexington, Kentucky for Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness. According to his diary entry on slamonline.com, Muhammad lists Duke, UNLV, Kansas, Texas A&M, UCLA, Kentucky and Memphis as his finalists. Muhammad has also taken an official visit to Texas A&M already, and Duke is expected to receive an official visit. According to ESPNHS, Muhammad will take all five of his official visits and will not announce a college decision until the spring signing period.
Mitch McGary originally planned on attending Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness for his official visit, but the class’ top ranked post player was not in attendance. Little information has leaked out regarding McGary’s recruitment over the past couple weeks. McGary’s decision will likely come down to the three schools he has officially visited—Michigan, North Carolina and Duke. McGary is still expected to announce and sign in the early signing period.
Despite conflicting reports recently, Tony Parker is still considering Memphis and Georgetown along with UCLA, Ohio State, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Kansas. Late Thursday, Parker publicly announced on memphisroar.com his surprising decision to attend Memphis Madness for an official visit. The five star big man will take his official visit to Duke on October 28th and 29th. Parker has already taken officials to Ohio State and UCLA and will likely take an official visit to Georgetown also.
Duke commit Rasheed Sulaimon and 2013 shooting guard Matt Jones sat together behind Coach Krzyzewski during Countdown to Craziness.
