Duke's possession prowess surprising in loss to Stanford

The most interesting numbers to arise out of Duke's Week 2 loss to Stanford:

8

On a fake punt in the second quarter, Alex King hooking up with Jay Hollingsworth for a 21-yard first down. That’s a full eight yards longer than his next punt would fly.  Last season King had two other offensive plays—he recorded a 16-yard rush and an incompletion.

5

Sean Renfree was brutalized by Stanford’s defense, as the quarterback was sacked five times by an aggressive Cardinal front line. Add in one more sack against backup Brandon Connette, and Stanford amassed three times more sacks than they had in their opener, a 57-3 rout of San Jose State.

8:48

Despite being dominated on the scoreboard, Duke had possession of the football for a full 8:48 longer than Stanford. The Blue Devils, though, are 3-for-7 in the redzone, as converting long drives into points has been a constant struggle.
