Former William & Mary star and Florida Marlins draft pick Kyle Padgett will join Duke's coaching staff this spring as an assistant coach. Padgett, who takes over for former assistant Tyler Hanson who now coaches at N.C. Central, will coach the catchers as well as assisting with the hitters.
“We are fortunate to add Kyle to our coaching staff here at Duke,” Duke head coach Sean McNally said. “His experience in both the college and professional ranks fits in well with our coaching and player development philosophy, and his passion and enthusiasm for the game is contagious. Kyle will impact our team in many different ways, and we are excited to add him to our program.”
Padgett has coached at the Division I level the last four seasons, including the last two at William & Mary the past two years. 39 of the players Padgett has coached have played professional baseball.
