Williams posts double-double against Russia

Elizabeth Williams helped the United States dominate an overmatched Russian team on Friday, scoring 11 points to go with 10 rebounds en route to a 76-53 victory.

The game quickly became a blowout as the United States jumped out to an 18-7 lead after the first quarter. The halftime score was even more lopsided, 40-19, and the United States held a 65-32 advantage heading into the fourth period.

Diamond DeShields paced the Americans with 16 points followed closely by Breanna Stewart's 14. DeShields, a 16-year-old rising high school junior—and reigning Gatorade Georgia Girls Basketball Player of the Year—is ESPN Hoopgurlz No. 2-rated player in the Class of 2013. Stewart, ESPN Hoopgurlz top ranked player in the Class of 2012, was recruited by the Blue Devils before committing to Geno Auriemma and the University of Connecticut in February.

The United States finishes up play in Group B tomorrow at 11:15 a.m. EST against Argentina.
