1. 3-point goggles: Most likely originated by Patty Mills and Rudy Fernandez of the Portland Trail Blazers, the 3-point goggles were most certainly started at Duke by Kyrie Irving. Smith has picked up the trend now, too, and it'll be interesting to see if he breaks them out after a Seth Curry or Andre Dawkins 3-pointer tonight.
2. And-one move: Sure, it's an NBA player's celebration at the core. And, yes, it's most often used by Kobe Bryant (who is, at the least, a polarizing figure in the eyes of most sports fans). And, of course, it works best with continuation, which the college game doesn't have.
But lately Smith has started punching his fist down after making a shot and being fouled, in a mimic of a referee's move. It's pretty cool, and it's certainly a professional's move, even if it does need some work—he did the celebration after making a shot and hearing the whistle in the Miami game, but was called for a charge.
3. The defensive crouch and smile: Smiling at the opponent that you're guarding is the ultimate sign that you're better than him. It's the, "I don't even have to concentrate—I'm still going to beat you" look. Smith does this a lot, and it's something that you can't really see unless you watch him in person. Maybe the television camera will be able to pick up on it tonight.
Can you think of any other touches that might be picked up by Nolan-Cam tonight?
