Duke released the tentative travel itinerary for those interesting in traveling with the basketball team this summer—and, as expected, it's not cheap.
Lunch on the Great Wall, a dinner on a river cruise in Shanghai, picture-taking on the Burj Khalifa observation deck—it's all a part of a 13-day trip that will run you around $12,000 per person, and that's if you scrimp and take double occupancy rooms. According to the Anthony Travel website, Duke's booking agency, a single-occupancy room costs $13,465.
Of course, Anthony Travel will also offer cheaper packages that allow you to travel with the team only for certain parts of their trip, but they do not include the charter airfare that comes with the centerpiece trip.
In addition to lunch on the Great Wall and the river cruise, some highlights of the trip include:
- Private charter flights from the United States to Shanghai and from Beijing to Dubai
- A group tour of Duke's new Fuqua School of Business campus
- All four Duke games
- Group tour of Shanghai, and excursions to the Yu Yuan Garden and Shanghai Tea House
- Tours of Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and the Summer Palace
Duke is expecting the travel package to sell out, so withdraw from that 401k now!
