The Blue Devils benefited from all four teams ranked ahead of them losing this week—the first time something like that has happened in eight years. Kansas, Texas, Ohio State and Pittsburgh all fell to lesser competition in an upset-filled few days, leaving the path open for Duke to take the No. 1 spot.
St. John's is a notable name making its debut into the rankings this week. After beating Pittsburgh this week—and Duke a few weeks ago—the Red Storm are in the top 25 for the first time in more than a decade. They rank at No. 23 in the AP poll and No. 25 in the ESPN/coaches poll.
