Drew's decision came weeks after he lost his starting job to Kendall Marshall and began essentially splitting time at point guard with the freshman. However, in North Carolina's past three games Drew's play was trending upwards: in three Tar Heel wins Drew had 19 assists and only two turnovers.
Drew's overall numbers, though, have dipped this season, as his scoring average has dropped by four points per game and his assists per game have dropped by two.
Drew had been one of the Cameron Crazies favorite targets over the last year for his propensity to turn the ball over and his struggles in Cameron: in last season's matchup the point guard accounted for only three points and two assists in 30 minutes of play. Now, though, students won't have the opportunity to heckle him again, as his decision to transfer comes less than a week before the first Tobacco Road showdown of the season.
