Now we know how many tweets it takes to send the Duke basketball world into a frenzied panic: two.
First, it was Irving himself, who tweeted the following this morning: "Situation not looking good and i'm not feeling good...[shaking my head] worst thing ever"
Then CBS analyst Seth Davis joined the fray, tweeting "Duke fans should brace themselves for worst re Irving. Won't know til next week at earliest but I'd say 55 pct chance he's done for year."
So Blue Devil fans began waiting for the forthcoming announcement of Irving's injury, expecting the worst. But after scouring the Internet—including all 350 messages on the Duke Basketball Report message board dedicated to Kyrie's big toe—one thing is clear: nobody knows anything.
Jeff Goodman of Foxsports.com has come closest to adding new information to the story by talking to Dredrick Irving, Kyrie's father. However, all the elder Irving divulged was that the injury's swelling was still too high to glean any pertinent information regarding the prognosis.
Internet rumors suggested that the Andrews Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center, run by world-renowned physician Dr. James Andrews, was involved in developing a diagnosis for Irving, but the Center declined to comment to The Chronicle, citing doctor-patient confidentiality.
The Chronicle's calls to Dredrick Irving were similarly fruitless, with all going straight to voicemail.
And we are left today where we started: Waiting for any real information.
