Head coach Mike Krzyzewski said several big things at his press conference tonight. Here's a selection, free from any other analysis:
"Kyrie’s injury is a serious one. It’s being evaluated by our medical team here at Duke and medical people from different parts of the country who are good with foot injuries. And some type of analysis should be done sometime in a week to 10 days. A course of action will be taken based on that analysis. I can’t say anything more because we’re learning more…. Any final decisions we make will be based on his well-being and career."
[When asked if he could be out the whole year] "He could be."
"It didn’t [become serious] until we got x-rays taken. He wanted to come back into the game and was able to come back into the game but then it got worse. It swelled up, then MRIs have been taken. But also, an analysis of this foot needs to be taken by these doctors, who also work with pro athletes, because there aren’t a lot of toe injuries. If you hurt your big toe, that’s what you push off on, it seems like that darn thing shouldn’t be that important, you know, but it is. It just is. God bless Kyrie, he wants to play. But we just have to wait and see what happens."
