It's no secret that Duke is receiving extraordinary amounts of hype.
No. 1 in the latest coaches poll. No. 1 in today's AP poll. And in the latest Sports Illustrated, a whole slew of awards: It is No. 1 in the top 20, Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith are first team All-Americans, and its contests against Michigan State and Butler are named as two big games to watch for this year.
But I have received an email with college picks from surely the most reputable source of all: Playboy.
Yes, that magazine you read just for the articles has also weighed in on Duke. Irving and Singler are named to the preseason All-American team, and head coach Mike Krzyzewski is named the coach of the year in a "deserving choice—if an obvious one," it says.
Hefner's esteemed mag makes one very strange decision, however: Purdue is ranked No. 1, and Duke No. 2.
This is the same Purdue that currently ranks No. 14 in the AP poll and is missing its best player, Robbie Hummel, who is out for the year with an ACL tear.
Were the writers too busy at the Grotto to notice Hummel's injury?
