He did not make an appearance at the 2008 Orientation Week, but will be coming to campus Nov. 10 to discuss his new book Zeitoun at 6 p.m. in Page Auditorium.
Zeitoun tells the true story of Abdulrahman Zeitoun, a Syrian immigrant living in New Orleans that stayed behind during Hurricane Katrina. The book tells the story of the turmoil him and his family endured.
All profits from the sale of Zeitoun go towards supporting the Zeitoun Foundation, which Eggers and the Zeitoun family formed in 2009. The foundation awards grants to promote human rights and help rebuild the city.
The event is free and open to the public, according to a Duke news release.
