The overwhelming excitement in the Chicago Bears' last-second victory over the Packers on Monday night overshadowed one of the biggest milestones in the history of Duke football's alumni. 13-year NFL veteran Patrick Mannelly, a sixth-round pick in 1997, performed long snapping duties in his record-setting 192nd game in a Bears uniform. Mannelly eclipsed Steve McMichael's record of 191, set in 1993. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound former Duke standout, who also sees action on special teams, has played in 124 straight games, and has only missed three in his entire career.
Only seven active NFL players have seen more action than Mannelly, including Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis.
In a Duke uniform, Mannelly was a dominant force on the offensive line. He started for the Blue Devils all four years as a long snapper, including in Duke's 1994 appearance in the Hall of Fame Bowl. By the time he graduated in 1997, Mannelly was also considered one of the best offensive left guards in the ACC.
