Duke easily defeated Long Beach University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, with the team only dropping one game during the entire contest.
Reka Zsilinszka and Elizabeth Plotkin swept their match in doubles play, as did Ellah Nze and Amanda Granson, to quickly put the Blue Devils up 2-0. In the singles contests, Plotkin won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot, and Granson also won her match in straight sets. Sophomore Monica Gorney beat Stephanie Elie 6-0, 6-1 to finish Duke's dominating performance. It was the only time all day that a Blue Devil lost a game.
More to come after Saturday's 4:00 pm match against either Princeton or Virginia.
