Redshirt senior Vince Oghobaase was honored yesterday as a third team All-American by Sporting News. Despite playing in just 8 games due to injury, the defensive tackle had 37 tackles and 2.5 sacks on the year.
GoDuke.com reports that the senior is the first Blue Devil defensive lineman to receive All-America honors in the modern era. Oghobaase ranks fifth all-time at Duke in sacks (14.0) and sixth in tackles for losses (36.5).
The Blue Devils won six games this year during head coach David Cutcliffe's second year at the helm of the program. The win total is the program's highest since the 1994 season during which Duke made it to the Hall of Fame bowl.
Six other ACC players were honored by Sporting News for their performance this season: C.J. Spiller (Clemson), Derrick Morgan (Georgia Tech), Thomas Austin (Clemson), DeAndre McDaniel (Clemson), Ryan Williams (Virginia Tech) and Greg Reid (Florida State).
