Kyrie Irving Cancels Indiana Visit

As Duke prepares to roll out the red carpet to highly touted recruit Kyrie Irving for his official visit next weekend, it appears the Blue Devils' chances of landing the coveted point guard have just increased dramatically.

Irving's uncle announced today that Kyrie had cancelled his official visit to Indiana and that the Hoosiers are no longer in contention in Kyrie's recruitment, a fact the point guard himself confirmed on his Twitter.

Irving's recruitment was long considered to be a two horse race between Indiana and Duke, but with this development the Blue Devils are now considered heavy favorites to land Irving.  If Irving does not commit to Duke this weekend, which many recruiting experts anticipate he will, it is now believed Kentucky is the only other major competitor in the point guard's recruitment.

If the Blue Devils can secure Irving's services this weekend, it could also be a boost to Duke's recruitment of Harrison Barnes, who is considered by many to be the number one prospect in the class of 2010.  Barnes and Irving appeared to become friends on the AAU circuit this summer, and many recruiting experts have speculated that the prospect of playing with Irving could be a huge influence on Barnes' college decision.
