The best college football schools in the country all seem to have a gimmick to get the crowd wearing their school colors, like Penn State's White Out or Michigan's Maize Out. Now, if David Cutcliffe and Thaddeus Lewis have anything to say about it, Duke will be adding the "sea of blue" into the mix this season.
"One of the things I'm expecting is a sea of blue," Cutcliffe said in his weekly press conference when asked about fan support for the season opener. "I'm pleading with everyone to wear their blue. I think that's going to be exciting to come out and see that, it's going to be very festive."
Lewis echoed his coach's sentiments. When asked what he hoped to see when the team runs out of the tunnel on Saturday, the senior quarterback answered, "hopefully a sea of Duke blue."
Both Cutcliffe and Lewis also sounded optimistic about the size of the crowd for the season opener.
"You kind of know a lot of people are going to attend the game when it is kind of hard to find tickets amongst your teammates," Lewis said. "That's kind of a sign that a lot of people want to come and see Duke play and we have to keep the fans excited and feeling like that."
So, Blue Devil fans, will you be a part of the "sea of blue" come 7 p.m. Saturday?
