For the first and only time this season, Duke won't have to leave campus for a meet.
Instead, the Blue Devils will simply have to trek from their dormitories to Wallace Wade Stadium for the annual Duke Invitational. Duke welcomes more than 50 other schools on campus Friday, when competition starts at noon, and Saturday, with the meet kicking off at 9 a.m.
Duke's best throwers, runners and pole vaulters will be featured all weekend. John Austin, one of the country's best in javelin, throws Friday, and Amy Fryt, who figures to contend for another individual title in the pole vault, also competes Friday.
Duke's 1,500-meter racers take the track Friday, as does Duke's team of 5,000-meter runners.
Saturday will showcase Duke's male pole vaulters, and most of Duke's runners, in addition to Jade Ellis in the long jump and Amy Matulewicz in the javelin.
