Two days after securing a momentous series win over N.C. State, Duke returns to Jack Coombs Field Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a non-conference matchup against Davidson.
The Blue Devils (24-13) were routed in their last non-conference contest against UNC-Greensboro last Wednesday and will look for a more favorable outcome when the Wildcats come to town. Duke hasn't lost to Davidson (13-16) since 2005 and head coach Sean McNally is a sterling 4-0 against the Wildcats in his tenure, although the last two games were both decided by one run.
Senior Nate Freiman has enjoyed a fruitful career against the Wildcats, sporting a .526 batting average in four contests including one home run and eight RBIs. Junior Will Currier, who takes the mound tonight, has also notched one victory in his lone appearance against Davidson.
The Wildcats are the first of three Duke opponents currently with losing records, giving the Blue Devils the perfect opportunity to build off of their victory over the Wolfpack and gain momentum heading into the home stretch of the regular season slate.
