Full Frame is set to take over downtown Durham all weekend long. But come Monday, the docs are out of Durham, and fiction is in. Main Street, the new film directed by John Doyle from a Horton Foote script, is set to begin filming April 6. The Durham Visitors Bureau has a map of filming locations and a tentative calendar for shooting dates. The film is the 18th feature film shot in the Bull City and the first since 1996's Bandwagon.
Be on the look out for Orlando Bloom in a cop uniform as well as Ellen Burstyn, Amber Tamblyn, Andrew McCarthy, Patricia Clarkson and Colin Firth. My best guess is there will be some star sightings at the city's more refined eateries (Piedmont, Four Square, Revolution, etc.) and a few at the more down home places (Bullock's, some taco trucks, etc.)
UPDATE: According to the shooting schedule, they will be filming at a restaurant located at 3521 Hillsborough St. Tuesday, May 5. After some research, this is the hot dog stand the Dog House. They can expect a surge in sales upon the film's release.
