Duke picks up 2 wins, suffers loss to end run

Just three days after scoring a season-high 22 goals in a win over No. 10 Vanderbilt, Duke scored half that total-its lowest of the year-against No. 8 Georgetown.

It was almost enough, but the Hoyas (4-2) pulled out a 12-11 victory Saturday at Multi-Sport Field in Washington, D.C. The No. 3 Blue Devils (6-2) used a 4-0 run midway through the second half to turn an 8-6 deficit into a 10-8 lead. But Georgetown countered with a four-goal spurt of its own, retaking the lead with 3:40 remaining and going up by two with 1:26 left.

At that point, it was too late for Duke to avoid its second loss of the season. Senior Carolyn Davis scored in the final minute, but the Blue Devils ran out of time to complete their comeback.

Although Duke dropped its road matchup with the Hoyas, it won both of its home contests over Spring Break. In addition to that 22-16 defeat of the Commodores March 11, the Blue Devils took down then-No. 8 Princeton 13-12 March 7.
