Duke faces crosstown rival under the lights

After a weekend of gloomy weather and disappointing results, a change of venue may be just what Duke needs to regain momentum before heading back into ACC play.

Having been swept by Wake Forest in a Sunday double-header at Jack Coombs Field, the Blue Devils (17-9) head to nearby Durham Bulls Athletic Park Tuesday at 7 p.m. to face crosstown rival N.C. Central (4-12).

The Eagles posed little resistance to Duke in the two teams' matchups last year. The Blue Devils won the three contests by a total score of 40-4, and three pitchers even combined for a seven-inning no-hitter in the Blue Devils' 22-0 win April 15, 2008.

N.C. Central has struggled again this season, having committed 41 errors in just 16 games.

In the second game of a doubleheader last year, senior Nate Freiman knocked in seven RBIs. He's just as hot now, as the first baseman is coming off of a three-homer output against Wake Forest Sunday at home.
