A day after being named to the All-ACC first team, Chante Black added to her growing list of awards by earning ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
Black headlines the conference's All-Defensive Team which also includes Georgia Tech's Jacqua Williams, Florida State's Jacinta Monroe, Clemson's Lele Hardy and North Carolina's Jessica Breland.
The senior center anchored the Blue Devils' defensive effort throughout the season, as Duke finished second in the ACC in scoring defense and led the league in field goal percentage defense. Black was third in the conference in blocked shots with 61 and fifth in rebounding with 8.6 rebounds per game. In Duke's victory Sunday over North Carolina, Black became just the third player in league history to register 1,300 points, 900 rebounds and 250 blocked shots.
She is the second player in the program's history to capture the award. Lindsey Harding was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007.
Black and the Blue Devils begin the ACC Tournament Friday at 8 p.m. against the winner of Virginia/Virginia Tech.
