- Remember where we were last week? Duke had just snapped a losing slide with a win over St. John's, and no one knew if that was just a one-game stopgap or a genuine opportunity for the Blue Devils to turn around their season. All signs point to the latter. The Blue Devils secured two of their best wins in February in the last two seasons, first beating Wake Forest in an absolute classic with a little lot of help from Gerald Henderson and Jon Scheyer, then escaping College Park's rowdy atmosphere with a tough road win, again with some a lot of help from Henderson.
- So now, the question is: Can Duke use these last three wins to turn around its season, as Tim Britton argued, or is this just a way for fans to get their hopes up again?
- Joanne P. McCallie's squad was more up-and-down (or hot and cold, yes and no, in and out, whichever you prefer) this week. The Blue Devils lost at Maryland, and once again, it was Duke killers Kristi Toliver and Marissa Coleman that, well, killed them. Later, though, Duke traveled to Wake Forest and put together what McCallie called the team's "best overall team game" in an 83-50 win. On Sunday, it's time to say goodbye to seniors Chante Black, Carrem Gay and Abby Waner, who play their last home game in Cameron Indoor Stadium against North Carolina. A win would certainly send them off on a high note, and the Duke ticket office anticipates a sell-out crowd, the team's first of the season.
- Some bad news for Mike Krzyzewski's team: Sophomore guard Nolan Smith is out indefinitely after suffering a mild concussion Wednesday at Maryland. Terrapins fans should be ashamed for cheering when Smith was on the ground, writes Meredith Shiner.

Thanks for helping make this week The Sports Blog's biggest in history, breaking the records we've set the last two weeks. We'll be back all weekend for the Duke men's 3:30 p.m. game at Virginia Tech Saturday, the women's senior day against UNC Sunday and two crucial lacrosse showdowns against Maryland. Stay tuned, folks, and enjoy the weekend.
