With the Blue Devils soundly defeating the Lady Tigers 77-53 Friday, arguably the most entertaining assist of the game came from the crowd.
As Clemson worked the ball around, the pep band and Cameron Crazies began to count down: "10...9...8..." As the crowd collectively made the sound of the buzzer, a Clemson player threw up a last attempt at a shot—what she didn't know, however, was that she still had eight seconds to shoot.
Lady Tigers: Welcome to Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Laughing about that possession, as well as the chant of "palindrome" when Duke was up 41-14, senior guard Abby Waner explained that it is these type of antics that make playing in Cameron such a special experience.
"My favorite is when they chant, 'Palindrome!' because it took me a while to understand what a palindrome even was," Waner said. "So it's kind of funny when you see people trying to figure out exactly what the band was chanting.... [Cameron] is a really special place to play."
