Gerald Henderson had many reasons to smile after Sunday's 79-54 Duke win over Virginia. He led Duke scorers with 18 points for the sixth time in seven games, and, of course, the Blue Devils had won.
Except the Philadelphia native's Super Bowl Sunday could have been even more perfect if his favorite NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles, were on the field in Tampa right now.
"I'm kind of upset that the Cardinals beat the Eagles, so I don't know if I'll watch," said Henderson, who regularly sported a Phillies cap during the team's run to the World Series in the fall. "I was pushing for [Donovan] McNabb and them to hopefully get it there another time, but it didn't happen. So I can't pick anyone—I'm still mad about a couple weeks ago."
We have a hard time believing that the game won't be on in Henderson's apartment, though. His roommate, Jon Scheyer, said he was rooting for the Cardinals because he's a Kurt Warner fan.
Neither mentioned the most redeeming part of the Super Bowl: The Boss at halftime! (Or, you know, the two Dukies on the field.)
