It wasn't a matchup between the top two teams, but Duke's 101-87 loss to North Carolina Wednesday still drew plenty of viewers.
The first game of the year between the Tobacco Road rivals attracted 3.3 million viewers, up 27 percent from 2.6 million watchers from the teams' first game last year, also on ESPN. The Duke loss, though, was down 41 percent from North Carolina's win in Cameron last year, which took in 5.6 million.
Proof that Duke-UNC merits more attention than, say, the Duke-Clemson game from the week before: The contest at Littlejohn Coliseum only attracted 2.0 million people.
