You didn't need to hear it from Mike Krzyzewski to know that Sunday's game was the best performance of Gerald Henderson's career. Or that it was a "signature performance" from Jon Scheyer.
But that statistics show that Henderson and Scheyer not only had great, but actually historic, performances in Sunday's 101-91 win over Wake Forest.
The duo's total of 65 points—Henderson had 35 and Scheyer 30, both career highs—was the highest ever in Cameron Indoor Stadium. It was the first time since 1980 that two players have scored 30 or more points, and the first time in Krzyzewski's tenure. It was also the fourth highest combined total in Duke history—the record is 75 and was set in 1988 by Danny Ferry (58) and Alaa Abdelnaby (17) in Miami.
Duke fans can only hope the Blue Devils won't need these types of heroics when they take on Maryland Wednesday in College Park.
