A letter in The Chronicle Feb. 2 by Danielle Johns, "Too soon to celebrate," rightly called attention to the challenges that many students and their families face in affording a Duke education-challenges that will only continue to grow as the national economic situation continues to deteriorate. Duke's long-standing commitment to meeting the full demonstrated financial need for all students is now more important than ever. The maze of federal rules and regulations that prescribe a financial aid award can be daunting even to the experts, so we encourage anyone with questions or concerns about financial aid to visit us.
We have much to be proud of and, with the successful completion of the Financial Aid Initiative, much to celebrate. But there is still plenty to do as we seek to provide support and counsel to students and families as they make decisions about educational expenses.
The Office of Financial Aid is here to help... please take advantage of it.
