(Via You Ain't No Picasso) I hate Starbucks coffee. It's nothing about the store--I kind of love the idea of it--it's just the coffee. I think it's weak and not worth my--what is it now--$5. Don't get me started on their frapachaccis. But I kind of want to go to the ultimate corporate coffeeshop Jan. 30 to pick up Sweetheart, the chain's potentially semi-awesome Valentine's Day-themed covers compilation. Here's the tracklist.
Death Cab for Cutie: “Love Song” (Cure cover)02 Katy Perry: “Black and Gold” (Sam Sparro cover)
DeVotchKa: “Hot Burrito #1 (I’m Your Toy)” (Flying Burrito Brothers cover)
Department of Eagles: “Love Me” (Elvis Presley cover)
Jessica Lea Mayfield: “Words of Love” (Buddy Holly cover)
Ben Bridwell: “Your Love Is Forever” (George Harrison cover)
Kate Tucker: “I’m on Fire” (Bruce Springsteen cover)
Rogue Wave: “Maps” (Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover)
A.C. Newman: “Take on Me” (a-ha cover)
Jem: “Yellow” (Coldplay cover)
Richard Hawley: “Early Morning Rain” (Gordon Lightfoot cover)
Daniel Martin Moore: “I Hear Music” (Billie Holiday cover)
She & Him: “I Put a Spell on You” (Screamin’ Jay Hawkins cover)
Lila Downs: “My One and Only Love” (Frank Sinatra cover)
She & Him. Jem. DoE. Katy Perry. DCFC. It's like an OC Mix CD circa 2009. Even if I skip the coffee, I'm almost as excited about Jan. 30 as I am Feb. 14.
