While all the focus on campus may be on the Duke men's dominating win over Maryland on Saturday, the Duke women certainly held their own in their win over Georgia Tech Sunday.
And while the men's statement game will almost certainly propel the Blue Devils to No. 1 in the polls Monday, the women may also be poised for a big jump. After North Carolina lost three times this week—including a defeat Sunday to Maryland—the Blue Devils will likely jump their rivals Monday.
But more importantly, the impressive win may help close the gap between Duke's place in the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls.
While the 17-1 Blue Devils were No. 4 in the AP poll this week, they were No. 8 in the other poll, somehow ranked behind two-loss teams like Oklahoma, California and Texas A&M. That could change after their performance against Georgia Tech.
So where will the Blue Devils be when the polls are announced?
And can anyone figure out why this gap existed in the first place?
