Answer: One minute and 51 seconds.
Question: How long did it take Duke to score 14 unanswered points against Temple?
During its game-clinching run in the first period, the Blue Devils capitalized on repeated Owl turnovers to remedy a slow start and ultimately defeat an overmatched Temple team.
At 11:23 in the first half, Chante Black missed her second free throw. Bridgette Mitchell got the offensive rebound, then gave it to Black, who dropped in a jumper.
Carrem Gay would follow that up with a couple of steals in a row, as would Abby Waner. Each steal was followed by a Duke basket.
During the stretch, the Blue Devils recorded four steals, all while playing the full court defense that they have become known for during the season.
"We see [the press] as an opportunity to crank up the intensity and get some easy buckets," Jasmine Thomas said. "We just throw it at the offense and make them turn it over, then capitalize on it."
It didn't start out easy for Duke, though.
The Blue Devils came out of the gate as cold as the ground on adjacent Krzyzewskiville Shot after shot missed its mark, and the frustration was evident on each and every Duke player's face.
The Blue Devils would ultimately miss their first eight shots, finding themselves four minutes into the game still scoreless.
Then Duke turned on the heat.
Three steals and a shot clock violation in a two-minute stretch allowed the Blue Devils to take an 11-2 lead. Time and time again, forced Temple turnovers by an unstoppable Duke full court press led to easy baskets. It became a classic case of defense sparking the offense.
"As soon as they were able to score they put on the press," Owl head coach Tonya Cardoza said. "Then, once we started turning the ball over [the press] got more and more aggressive, and they kept coming at us."
