In response to the Nov. 21 editorial, "Send Brown into town," let me be Duke Student Government Vice President for Durham and regional affairs sophomore Andrew Brown's publicist for the day. In the Office of Durham and Regional Affairs, Community Affairs and the Community Service Center, Brown is known as Andrew "Downtown" Brown.
Phail Wynn, the University's vice president for Durham and regional affairs, spoke well of Brown's work with our offices and the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership recently at the Nov. 12 Prime Time forum in the Griffith Theater. Brown has been selected to be one of two Duke representatives (Trinity sophomore Alexandra Nevid is the other) to participate in the college edition of the prestigious Triangle Leadership Program. He has attended Partners Against Crime meetings and participated actively in the "Party House" meetings with residents of the Trinity Heights neighborhood and officials from Duke University. Most importantly, he has pushed for greater student involvement and leadership in an effective collaboration with the Durham community at all levels.
DSG and Duke should be pleased that Brown is on the scene representing Duke student commitment to Durham.
