Duke's offense was completely anemic in its 14-3 loss to Virginia Tech Saturday. Help may be on its way sooner than the Blue Devils expected.
Starting quarterback Thaddeus Lewis, who was sidelined against the Hokies with a foot sprain he sustained against Clemson Nov. 8, will play against North Carolina Saturday, head coach David Cutcliffe said at his weekly media luncheon Tuesday. How much time Lewis will see, however, is the more pressing question.
"I expect him to play--I don't know if he'll play a lot," Cutcliffe said.
Lewis ranks third in the ACC in passing average at 189.3 yards per game, and is tied with N.C. State's Russell Wilson for an ACC-leading 14 touchdowns. He is also third in the league in passing efficiency. Efficient, though, was not Duke's strength Saturday, when backup quarterback Zack Asack finished 2-for-9 for 20 yards and four interceptions.
