Price ain't right

Let me say one thing in response to The Chronicle Editorial Board's Oct. 27 endorsement of David Price for 4th District House seat: I hope you are not North Carolina voters.

Did you research Price or just stop at the (D) behind his name? He voted for the Patriot Act; you implied otherwise. He voted for the Farm Bill. He went on a five-week August vacation rather than stay in Congress to pass an energy bill.

But most troubling are Price's decisions during the $700 billion bailout. Price's Durham and Chapel Hill offices randomly closed after a swell in public outcry; challenger B.J. Lawson shot a quick video of it (tinyurl.com/noprice). Price's D.C. office would not reveal his position an hour before the first bailout vote. Staff suggested I "check online later." Are you proud to endorse these tactics too?

Lawson has run a tough, smart and honest campaign against an unresponsive twenty-year incumbent. No matter your politics, you must admire Lawson's principles. That's why I'm proud to vote Lawson on Nov. 4.
