Game Day activities planned

Saturday will be the first opportunity to show support for our football team under the new leadership of head football coach David Cutcliffe. Festivities will begin today at noon on West Campus Quadrangle. The activities, including prize giveaways, will continue on East Campus from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, there will be a large pre-game celebration on Main Quad, including free food and music. At 4:30 p.m., the football team will march from Duke Chapel to Wallace Wade Stadium.

Although we hope that most students take advantage of the festivities on Main Quad, students may enter the first lot of the Blue Zone beginning at 3:00 p.m. Anyone bringing alcohol will be asked to present identification at the gate, and each person can bring only enough alcohol for himself or herself. No glass bottles are allowed, and throwing cans is strictly prohibited. All students with cars parked in the Blue Zone will be expected to move their cars by 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

Food, grills for student use, restrooms and water will be provided. Activities in the Blue Zone will end promptly at 6:30 p.m., and Main Quad festivities will finish at 6 p.m. Cutcliffe would like us to show full support for Duke Football by packing the stands before the team enters the field.

Students may enter Wallace Wade through the North Entrance near Cameron Indoor. The student section has been moved to the opposite side of the stadium behind Duke Football's benches. Additionally, Duke Athletics will give away T-shirts to the first 5,000 students. Prizes will be awarded to one East Campus dormitory, West Campus Quad and Selective Living Group with the highest attendance.

See you at the game-go Duke!
