Where the Nerds Are

1.) Your Dorm Room - C--

Sure, this seems like a good idea at first. There's no need to break out that fleece to brave the harsh North Carolina winter and all of your books are within arms' reach. But before you know it, that nap "break" has turned into a full 12-hour night's sleep, your roommate has returned with his/her newest flame and your nextdoor neighbor has decided that Cascada's "Everytime We Touch" merits being put on constant loop.

2.) Von der Heyden - A

For those social-butterfly studiers, von der Heyden is the place to see and be seen. Hardly the quietest place on campus, it is more conducive to team projects, group study sessions and meetings with professors. But with its high ceilings and soft lighting, it's just the spot to take on that all-nighter with a touch of class. And if you're a java junkie or sugar addict, having Saladelia's brews and brownies on hand trumps any downsides to this study space.

3.) Chinese Reading Room @ Lilly - B+

With its intricate Chinese art and unbeatable view of the East Campus quad, this room may be the most beautiful study spot on campus. Just a short walk from freshman dorms and a short drive from most off-campus apartments, it might also be the most convenient. But be warned: if you want to chat with your friend, eat a bag of potato chips or even just sigh loudly, this is not the place for you. That girl in the corner who's staring at you as you unpack your bag? She's not into you. She wants you to be quiet.

4.) Ford Library - B

While the laziest among us may be unwilling to make the trek down Towerview Drive to this Fuqua School of Business hub, to the traveler go the spoils. And by the spoils, I mean the chance to complete the requirements for that MRS degree you've been working toward by nabbing yourself a future Wall Streeter. But with doors that close at midnight on weekdays, Ford won't cut it for those serious studiers who are more interested in getting the grades than getting the guy.
