Tennessee contest sold out

In what may be a matchup of the nation's top two teams, the Jan. 23 meeting between Duke and Tennessee has sold all available tickets.

It is the third time that the 9,314-seat Cameron Indoor Stadium has sold out for a women's game and the first time since the Lady Vols last visited in 2004.

Limited tickets are still available for the game against North Carolina Jan. 29. The Tar Heels beat the Blue Devils in each of the teams' three meetings last year.

Gridiron frosh earns honors

Michael Brown was named to the First Team Freshman All-America team by the Football Writers Association of America, The Sporting News and Scout.com.

The Houston, Texas native led Duke with 92 tackles, 10 of which were for a loss. He also caused three fumbles and recorded a sack.

Rennie adds alum to soccer staff

Mike Jeffries, who was the 1983 national player of the year as a Blue Devil, was named the men's soccer team's associate head coach.

"I am excited to come back to Duke and work with one of the top collegiate programs in the country," Jeffries said. "After college I always thought that I would love to get back to Duke and I am fortunate that opportunity came up."

He left his post as head coach at the University of the Incarnate World to accept the position.

Jeffries fills the vacancy left by Mike Jacobs, who left Duke to become the head coach at Evansville.

Anderson joins golf program

After competing on the FUTURES Golf Tour since graduating from Duke in 2001, Kalen Anderson has elected to return to her alma mater as an assistant coach for the women's golf team.

The former four-time All-ACC selection will assist in all phases of the women's program, which captured its third national title last season.

Brad Sparling, who has served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's squads over the past two years, will focus his energy solely on the men's team in his new role as the associate head coach.
