Danger Doom

Once in a while, a hip-hop album comes along and ignores all of the rules. Enter Danger Doom, the long-awaited collaboration between underground hip hop legend MF Doom and up-and-coming wunderkind Danger Mouse. The two first worked together on the song "November Has Come" off the Gorillaz' sophomore album, Demon Days, with Danger Mouse on the beats and Doom handling the vocals. Their obvious fluidity and chemistry led them to a full-on collaboration, and The Mouse and The Mask was born.

But then something happened. Who knew what the two were thinking, but they decided to ally the project with Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Maybe it's because both generally hide behind costumes-Doom with his signature mask and Danger Mouse with his giant mouse costume. But what matters is that it happened. Every song comes with some form of drop, whether it's from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Space Ghost or Harvey Birdman, and the end result is something genius but stranger than anything that has come around in a decade. In the end, however, the album is one of the best of the year. Every track is great and catchy-definitely worth ten bucks.
