Letter to the Editor: Support Duke field hockey

What are you up to this weekend? I would imagine your plans are relatively open. There isn't a football tailgate to attend or a basketball game to start tenting for, but there may still be a reason to burn the benches. So, come out to Williams Field (East Campus Turf) to see the Duke field hockey team destroy the opposition en route to the Final Four.

Chances are that you have seen us practice as you have driven down Broad Street, but now is your opportunity to get one final glimpse of the team that is making Duke history. We've been out there daily since the middle of August hoping for the chance to contend for the National Championship. As we enter the playoffs, it is evident that all of our hard work has paid off. In 2003 we have moved up the rankings to our current second place standing and gained the respect of opponents that used to destroy us.

So drag yourself out of bed and down to Williams Field at 11 a.m. on Saturday to see college sports in its purest form. There won't be any signing bonuses, sponsorships or even a pro-team to play for when my fellow senior teammates and I wrap up our careers in a few short weeks; but we have headed out to practice rain or shine, six a.m. or p.m., to be the hardest working team in the NCAA. Well, it's game time and we are ready; come out and show your support!
