I was amused to read the charming ignorance of Derek Gantt's Oct. 31 column, "Living in the South. It reminded me of my know-little youth when I actually thought electing Jimmy Carter as president would be good for the country.
Then I grew up and realized that working people, the type young Gantt despises, pay the taxes that make this country, and the world go round.
Lazy young Mr. Gantt--let me give you some fatherly advice. When you actually get a job and start paying taxes to a government that thinks of you as a little bit higher form of cattle, then you can start pontificating your opinion.
Perhaps then, someone will think you have something worthwhile to say.
Until then, most of us will think of you as little more than foolish child of privilege who knows very little about the topics he chooses to write about.
