Student sleeps at Rick's, purse stolen

A student reported that around 7 p.m. Nov. 1, she and several friends were at the first-floor lounge of Rick's Diner when they fell asleep on a couch. Upon awakening, the student discovered that her $30 black leather purse, containing her $50 Coach wrist-carry wallet, $26.53 in cash and $230 Sprint Sanyo cellular telephone had been taken.

Bike thief strikes Central in triplicate

Three students reported that between 10 p.m. Oct. 30 and 9 a.m. Oct. 31, their bicycles were stolen from 1809 Erwin and 304 Anderson. The first is a $150 dark green 15-speed mountain bike with a black seat and $20 wire-type mechanism. The second is a $900 silver Aluminum racing series ARS 7.0 Iron Horse bicycle with a $20 wire-type locking chain. The third is $500 and silver with toe-clips and a $20 wire-type locking chain.

Rosary beads, electronics stolen from WilRec

A student reported Oct. 31 around 10 a.m., she placed her $30 purse--containing keys, a $200 Samsung photo phone, a $300 Palm Pilot, $20 rosary beads and DukeCard--on the floor in Wilson Recreational Center while she exercised. When she returned, she could not find her bag.

Drinks aced from vending machine

A student reported a break-in to a vending machine in Bassett Dormitory Oct. 27. The student reported that he purchased a drink from the machine at 10:20 p.m. and that it was secure. At 10:40 p.m., he said he saw a number of students in the vending machine room and five minutes later, he passed the machine again and noticed that the door to the machine was open. The student was unable to identify any of the students from the room. The estimated value of the items taken from the machine is $200.

DVD player stolen

A student reported the theft of an Apex DVD player from the commons room of House G. The $250 player was last seen in the commons room Oct. 21.

Restroom vending machines busted at Fuqua

An employee reported damage to six vending machines in women's restrooms throughout the Fuqua School of Business. Housekeeping employees said the vending machines were intact at 8 a.m. Oct. 27. An unknown amount of money was taken from the machines, with total damage estimated at $100.

Laptop filched

An employee reported the theft of her $2,000 Hewlett-Packard laptop computer from her office in the Hudson Hall annex. The employee said she left the laptop in her office Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m. and discovered it missing at 9 a.m. Oct. 27. There were no signs of forced entry to the office.

Keys, six bottles of lotion seized

Employees reported the theft of keys and six bottles of lotion from the radiation clinic. The employees reported that the items, valued at $8, were last seen at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 and were missing on the morning of Oct. 27.

Fuqua student loses laptop

A student reported the theft of his Toshiba laptop computer from a team room in the Fuqua School of Business. The student reported that he took a break from studying between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Oct. 28, and when he returned, his $2,500 computer was missing.

Contractor parts with parking pass

A parking permit was reportedly stolen from a contractor's vehicle, which was parked in the contractor lot near Duke Clinics. The $300 permit was last seen in the vehicle Oct. 23.

Computation no more: items stolen

An employee reported the theft of $1,300 worth of computer goods from his office at Duke Clinics. The employee reported that the items--including his Dell laptop computer, a portable ZIP drive and a computer case--were last seen in his office at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 and were missing at 9 a.m. Oct. 27.
