Thefts staunch tampon service
An employee reported that at 5:10 a.m. Oct. 23 she discovered someone had broken into a tampon machine located in the second floor women's restroom in the Allen Building. Approximately $40 in damage was done to the machine and products totaling about $3 were taken.
An employee reported that around 4:10 a.m. Oct. 22 she discovered someone had broken into a tampon machine located in a women's restroom in the Morris Building. Approximately $50 in damage was done to the machine and $5 in cash taken.
Student's bike rollick halted
Mario Mani, DOB Nov. 29, 1983, of 303 House K, was stopped at 5:48 p.m. Oct. 21 for suspicion of operating his motorcycle at a high rate of speed on campus. He was charged with failing to carry a driver's license, driving without a registration plate and not having a registration card. His court date is set for Nov. 18. Mani could not be reached for comment.
Women steal everything but the diamond
An employee reported that between 8:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. Oct. 22, while his truck was parked at Erwin Square Building, a $65 black tool box, two Easton softball bats valued at $250, one $25 Wilson baseball glove, one $35 pair of black baseball shoes, six baseballs valued at $12, one $75 Nike black baseball bag and 10 bungee cords valued at $10 were stolen.
Two white females who appeared to be in their twenties, operating a 1988 red Ford truck, license plate number KXD 5271 NC, were observed removing the property from the bed of the victim's truck.
Phone thief shoots the breeze
A former patient reported that between 8 a.m. July 12 and noon Aug. 30, while she was a patient in Duke North, someone stole her $80 MV-60 Uyokra cell phone, serial number ESN06108202431.
She reported that calls totaling $1,374.50 were made on the phone. Person may have bought equipment falsely
A Duke computer store employee said he believes that someone has ordered $2,840 in computer equipment with a false Duke Code. The equipment has been going to University Towers.
VCR checks out
An employee reported that between 2 p.m. Oct. 20 and 8 a.m. Oct. 21, a $75 General Electric video cassette recorder was taken from a room at 5300 Duke Hospital North.
Window shattered on Central
An employee reported that between 5:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Oct. 21, while her vehicle was parked on Anderson Street near Bynum Street, someone broke out a $350 window. Nothing was taken.
Mountain bike takes a hike
A student reported that between 4 p.m. Oct. 21 and noon Oct. 22, someone stole her unsecured $100 red Schwinn mountain bike from outside the door of her 209 Anderson Street apartment.
Man harasses Women's Center
An employee reported receiving harassing/suspicious phone calls from a male subject at the Women's Center Oct. 22.
Visitor threatens employee
An employee reported that between 2:55 p.m. and 3 p.m. Oct. 18, he was threatened by a male on 7100 Duke North who was visiting a patient.
Employee left with lonely eyes, lonely ears
An employee reported that between 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and 7:55 a.m. Oct. 22, someone entered her unsecured office located in Duke Clinic 1-F and stole her $50 silver-colored AM/FM radio and $50 reading glasses.
Employee finds pocketbook sans items
An employee reported that between 7 p.m. Oct. 21 and 11 p.m. Oct. 22, her pocketbook was located in a break room on 2200 Duke North. Someone removed her $25 wallet containing her checkbook and Social Security Card.
